Thank you tiG

They're here. I arrived home yesterday afternoon, in a pouring rain, with a trunk full of groceries and found my brug babies waiting. Guess what I did first (it wasn't put away the groceries). They all looked great, packed with such tlc. I potted, patted, photoed, gave them a big kiss and put them under the lights. They are Janet Reno (Frosty pink x Dr. Seuss)(is that one of your seedlings that has been named?), Milk & Honey, Jean Pasco and one with no name. It is the smallest plant but had the largest root system.

I haven't gone digital yet, that's next, and sometimes it takes me weeks to finish a roll and have it developed. I will keep taking photos of their progress, and one day will post them. I hope that they grow up to be big and strong and one day I'll have some cuttings to share with others.

Janet Reno is Eric's cross. Brugmania gave it to me, so I took a cutting of it and sent the rest to you. :)
I thought the tag on the other one got left here, I'll email you.

HEY, LOL.... Had to BEG to give away my last JR at the swap. As people walked by I'd say poor poor Janet Reno *G* some people made a funny face , others just ran away!!!!
Finaly I convinced Pam to just turn the tag upside down! LOL
She is a fast growing beatiful Brug that can hold up to midday sun with ease!
Ihughes, tiG is just the best!

I felt sorry for the poor plant. Besides, I'm a glutton for any brug.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

lol!!! but he had them in such nice new pots!!!

Paxton, FL(Zone 8a)

If he hangs around us a little longer, he'll catch on, won't he, tiG? Reuse, reuse, reuse. Scrounge, scrounge for anything that will hold a plant.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I know, poor thing, had to take home my 10 time used ones:)

I wish you all would give me a break on those dang pots , LOL My local goodwill gets Targets junk that does not sell in clearance ! They were a whopping 10 cents a piece : ) Besides tiG your pots may have been old but the hybrids they contained weren't!!! ; )
Pam the glory bower vine , well I was a bit skeptical about it's survival, It put out new growth this week! Hooray!!!
June is the Hibiscus show and sale here you both need to look up a few hybrids and I will see what they have, I know tiG wants DB... but any other wants would be great to know ... I think I mentioned before these are grafted hybrids , Blooming sized in gallon pots for 7 to 10 BUCS!!!

wish our Goodwill had things like that!!! I'll look up some tomorrow and send you a wish list:)

Paxton, FL(Zone 8a)

I know what you mean about the Goodwill store, John. Ohhh, I know you're our kinda guy now, if you shop frugally like we do. I've seen new stuff in the Goodwill's around here too. Just wasn't flowerpots or anything I wanted.

Are you talking about some of those gorgeous hibiscus for 7-10 bucks? Are they shipping size (affordable that is)?

Oh, that glorybower is not a vine, John. It's a large shrub. Great blooms and seeds!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Gingerlily, I have a couple of GloryBower bushes and they aren't blooming for me. Well last year was their first year, but I expected at least one bloom. Do they have to reach a certain size before they will look like something? Do they have fertilizer requirements too? Any information you could give me would be really appreciated.

Thanks,

Shirley

Brugie,

I was given this one probably 4 or 5 (could be longer, time escapes me) years ago and it was just a little thing in a gallon pot. Last year it was humongous! It started blooming 2 or 3 years ago, but last year was the best. In fact, last fall, I pruned it severely, so it will be interesting to see how it does this year. All I can say is mine gets mostly morning to mid-day sun, it has lucked up over the years and gotten some miracle grow once in a while, mostly cause I'm watering potted or hanging things nearby.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Pam gave me one last year, I put it in the ground it grew to 6' and is gorgeous and it bloomed. It was in the bed with my brugs, and was well fed.
