Easy fix for steps on slope?

Tis is a bit embarassing, but, it's been 3 yrs now and I still don't have steps. I was told to place timbers and stuff and let Mother Nature help--well, she's taking too long! Has anyone found an easier way to do this?

The real bad problem is unshown on the right, lol.
