I bought some pink Iris at Home Depot, as it turns out they are not pink but sort of a lavender and they grow like crocus, no stem at all. Is this something I'm doing wrong or is there actually an Iris that is supposed to grow this way. It really is a crap shoot unless you buy something already in bloom. My other Iris growing near these little dwarfs are all growing normally. Any imput? :)
short Iris
It's probably iris reticulata. The grow short like that... nothing to do with you ;) http://iris.plantsdatabase.com/go/669/
Hi Poppysue, Thanks for the imput. I used the hyperlink. Mine are not like the ones shown. They seem to be regular Bearded Iris with no stems to speak of. These are on the fringe of the main group, maybe that has something to do with it, do you think? Guess I'll just wait till the rest bloom and see what happens. It's a puzzle...
