I'm looking for Sweet Coltsfoot. It has huge big momma leaves and its very beautiful.Does anyone have some to trade? Has anyone had experience with this plant?
Sweet Coltsfoot
If you're taking about the herb/weed colts foot, with the yellow flower's I have tons, its invaded my garden.......
Petasites japonicus? Not that many people carry it. You have to get it early, I believe it has to be shipped bare root.
Rice Creek has it on their water plants page.

I like yours much better
I never realized that the one I had was called coltsfoot, I always called it "butterbur". I just did a search on it the other day and read that coltsfoot was one of the common names.
I've had my eye on this plant for two summers. A local nursery has it growing on their grounds and it's just beautiful. They had it potted up in 20 gallon pots for $50.00. That price was way too high. They finally marked them down and I got it for $15.00 last fall. I planted it next to my pond very late in the season. I can't wait to see it in all it's glory.
Did Ya'll figure out what one we are talking about?this was the first thread that came up for Petasites.
If it is Petasites japonicus, please come get mine. PLEASE!! It spreads amazingly and will crack concrete.
Lol,I'm growing mine in buried 5gl pots, wish I had room to let it romp!It is as close as I can get to Gunnera,LOL
I "bogged" mine in hopes of keeping it in check, we'll see.
All I know is that where I live in the wet PNW I put it in a concrete and granite raised bed. It broke through the concrete walls and travelled under a walkway. Be afraid, be very very afraid if you have a moist environment. Also, every single little piece of broken root? A new plant......
Can anyone spare a piece of the petasites ? I'd like to try it.
Send me your Address,I'll send you out some.
