Asiatic Lily 'Lativa'

"Mutant" flower with ten petals. A normal flower has six petals and all lily family members are supposed to have flower parts in multiples of three. The rest of the flowers on theis plant were normal and the next year, all flowers were normal.

What a neat lily! Never seen one like that before!

The company "Dutch Gardens" has been selling them for a couple years. We get a lot of mutant stuff in our yard, like "Victoria Falls" irises with eight petals instead of six and 5- and 6-leaved clovers. I don't know what to think.

How do you do that Kelli? That's really neat! Got a catalog from Dutch Gradens, will have to give them a try.

hi kelli, i love your day lily. i live in zone 10. do you think it will grow there?

I live in zone 10 of California and it does fine for me. Zone 10 of Florida and Texas is a totally different animal, though. I've never lived there, so I won't even guess how lilies would do there.
