Nice shiny attractive beads.
I almost killed this plant. I thought it was dying because it wasn't getting enough water - turns out it was dying because of too much water. The more I neglect it the healthier it looks!
HELLO,
YOUR PHOTO IS BEAUTIFUL. THIS IS ONE OF MY MOST FAVORITE
SUCCULENT. HOWEVER I MUST ADMIT I'VE NOT BEEN SUCCESSFUL
IN KEEPING IT ALIVE. I'VE BEEN KEEPING THEM ON MY PATIO.
MY PATIO IS LIKEN TO A GREENHOUSE. ALL MY PLANTS REQUIRE
VERY LITTLE WATER DUE TO THE EXTREME HUMIDITY. I ALSO
LIVE BY THE RIVER. SO MY ATTEMPT AT THIS SPECIE IS ON THE
WAY AGAIN. THEY WERE PURCAHSED A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO. I WAS ADVISED TO WATER THEM AS SOON AS I GOT HOME BECAUSE
THEY WERES SO DRY. I DID SO AND I HAVE'NT BOTHERED THEM
SINCE. TODAY I NOTICE A DECLINE IN THERE APPEARANCE. SOME
OF THE PEARLS ARE STARTED TO LOOK DARK GREEN. WE'VE HAD A
LOT OF RAIN LATELY BUT I TOOK GREAT CARE TO PLACE THEM ON
THE PATIO WHERE THEY WOULD NOT BE RAINED ON. WELL TODAY I
DECIDED TO RELOCATE THEM IN TO THE HOUSE. THEY ARE HANGING
IN A WELL LIGHTED WINDOW, HOWEVER NOT DIRECT SUNLIGHT. MY
THINKING IS THAT MAYBE THERE IS TOO MUCH MOISTURE ON THE PATIO. THEY NEED DRYER AIR AND MY HOUSE IS AIRCONDITIONED,
KEPTED AT 79 DEGREES.
SO PLEASE OFFER FEED BACK IF YOU DARE. I WOULD CERTAINLY
APPRECIATE ANY HELPFUL ADVICE. I WOULD HATE TO LOSE THE
THREE POTTED SENECIOS THAT I'VE PURCHASED.
SINCERELY,
SUNNIE IN FL
I got a new cutting of this one because of my watering mishap earlier and mine seems to being doing fine now. I laid the cutting on some dirt using some sewing pins to gently hold the vine on the dirt. Then I watered it through enough to drain through the pot, set it in a window inside and it took off. I water it once a week just enough to let the water drain through then thats all. I don't keep a drain saucer under it because it shouldn't sit in water. I've had it for almost two months now and it is doing great. The vines are sending out shoots and the roots are taking to the soil. The window provides indirect afternoon light and I have flourescent bulbs in my overhead light fixture instead of regular incandescent because they put off a better light for plants in general (not so yellow). Anyway, I hope yours has improved since you sent in your message.
I am having trouble with my string of pearls plant and cannot seem to find information on it's care. The pearls are dying off rapidly; and I am wondering if maybe i need to transplant into a bigger pot( and if so- how do i go about this??) I have it hanging inside where I keep the temperature at about 72 degrees. Any and all help wold be so appreciated as I love this plant and do not want to lose it.
These posts must be really old and I don't know if anyone will see them, this isn't my username anymore.
I keep my string of pearls indoors all the time at about 72 degress f in indirect sun and do NOT let the soil dry out. I let mine and the pearls dried up. If you did, you need to repot with very good potting moist soil and don't let it dry out.
I am on my second senecios radicans . Bananna vine. The first was 6 feet long. i fell in love and thought for sure i couldn't kill it. I WAS SO WRONG. , I added about 1/4 cup of water to a 8 inch pot , went on vacation for 6 days ,came back and it was dead. The tops near the roots looked soggy and mushy, and all of the leaves all the way down were shriveled up to nothing. Where did i go wrong ? Did I over water ,underwater? Different sites say keep soil moist, but that seemed to be the demise of it. I also did not keep it near a sunny window, but across the room from a large window. Any advice please.
