Lily flowered tulips

Mount Angel, OR(Zone 8a)

The wind is blown these guys around but on a sunny day they look iridescent.

They sure are pretty! I love all the color. We are just now starting to come out of gray and white.

Hey! I've got those, and I love 'em! They are just wonderful! I've been starting to collect some of the species tulips too. They definitely add some spark to the garden.

These are really beautiful! What does "species" tulips mean?
Thanks

Morris, IL(Zone 5b)

Species means they haven't been cross bred with anything to make them bigger or whatever. Here's an example, though this one does have a name. They call this one Lilac Wonder'. I had another variety bloom the other day, but I haven't loaded the photo on the computer yet. They are usually shorter ground-huggers, that will naturalize easily.
