Where are you going to plant all of your brug babies? I can't wait to see pictures of your yard later this summer. Wonder what will happen with this brug? I don't think it could support a bloom bud right now. LOL!!

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

pretty babies you have there, doc. it does look like it did the Y already.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Cool! I'm curious how this baby will grow. Keep us updated root.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I was just looking for the thread with the two trunked Brug, you know I like the bizzare plants, this one fits right in.

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

root,Are all your cuttings the same . I don't see any labels. What are the containers you have them in. Do you write on the outside? Donna

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Donna,I use solo cups for seedlings, wax pencil to mark them, this tray is all CGxEP,I drill them so I can bottom water the whole tray at once.

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Plastic cups come in handy for root cuttings! I do the same, but I use clear plastic cups so that I can watch the root system developing. It's also easier to tell when they need to be potted up to the next size.

Do you stick a label on the outside of the cup? I use file folder labels and they work fine. I need to order more plastic markers you stick in the soil. As long as I remember to label them, that's what is important!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

You sure have the brug touch Root! Great looking babies!!! Do you put those in rabbit doo also? LOL I sure hope you get special ones.......

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

I know what CG is, but what is EP? I love the idea of using clear cups, Shirley.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Yes Snow that is the one I was looking for,How is yours?Still running double?Maybe we will have to swap some pollen on these,LOL!
EP=Ecuador Pink.

FSH, TX

Rootdoctor,
I sure hope you get something stunning from this cross. I think at least one other person has made this cross already, but I'm not sure if it bloomed yet. Personally, I'd like to think your going to get some exceptional hybrids from this batch. How many CG x Ecuador pink are you growing out? Hmm, wonder if anyone has bothered to make Ecuador pink x CG....

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I have 9 going right now.this one is the runt,I may trade a couple away this spring.

FSH, TX

Nine that are going to bloom? This batch is the runt of the litter? If I were you I would grow them all out. As Monika has proved time and again one can often grow many flowers from a cross before one finds a true winner. Just because someone else has made this cross doesn't mean you might not have a better hybrid in this very mix and you can always use it to breed with for next years hybrids. Just a thought, I just hate to see seedlings mowed down early, but in the same token, I've probably mowed more seedlings down before they've bloomed than many here as I like to get early first year bloomers to work with. Still, I'd be surprised if I didn't throw away a few with astounding colors and forms that I just never let mature doing things that way.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

you're right Eric, I think we're going to have to be a lot more particular this year with all the seedlings that this group has going.

FSH, TX

Tig,
I must certainly agree. Things have to keep getting better and with so many working with seeds. We are going to have some very beautiful hybrids. The more people that get involved with hybridizing Brugs the better the creations will be on sheer numbers alone, but it sure does help when everyone is using top notch hybrids from the start. I'm just glad we finally have some of the better German hybrids in the states to work with. To be honest, if I just get a hybrid worth working with this year I'll be happy.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I will take your advice! Both of you,Thanks,I have some other ones that could be knockouts just popping to soil,I'm only seeing 4 of them so far

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

yep, those could be something really special! hoping for different shapes and dark colors!

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Its like Eric said: you have to grow them all! The best example is Goldrausch. It was the only valuable hybrid out of 60. (59 white suaveolens type, 1 golden yellow versicolor like Multihybrid.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

If anyone else wants a couple of theee seeds , CG X EP....let me know!

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Looking good root! Can't wait for the blooms.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Kell . . I will try some for you!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

So Monika it looks like I should have 90 plants instead of 9,LOL,I hope I get lucky, never know.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

I love to start seed. I'll take a few CG x EP if you have extras.

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

Root, I've grown a lot of things from seed but never Brugs. How long does it take a seed to germinate and do they have to scarified. I have CG and am getting EP from Logees within the week. Donna

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

Root, after I asked you about seeds. I saw Ludgers Hyperlink and printed it out, so I guess that answers most of my question. Thanks anyway Donna
