anyone know where I can buy lotus seed, have heard you can get it in some oriental soups, but ummmm here in the sticks of Arkansas, the most oriental soup you can buy is ramen noodles? would like to try my hand at this, -----my garden wants go in so many directions, and my wallet has a flat. :)
i know you have heard this before?
You can visit any big Flower shop or a Micheals store and find the dried pods of lotus in the dried plant sections. If full of seeds buy one...take the seeds out of the pods..nick with a file till you see white then put in a tall fruit jar of warm water..the rest will happen quickly..remember..many years ago a researcher found seeds of a pink lotus in a peat bog in China..the seeds were carbon dated and were 2000 years old..yet most sprouted. The national arboretum in D.C. grew them.So the seeds are never too old!! LOL
many much thanks Eclipse,-----gonna stop by the flower shop tomorrow :)
