It should be warm enough here soon to put out water plants and I'd like to plan ahead. Things like water hyacinths and lettuces are only annuals here. With all the other stuff I have to bring in, I don't even attempt to save those. Being that I just started my pond last year, I don't have water plants to trade, but I can send land plants or postage or both in return. I'd also be interested in other floaters, oxidators, etc. Things I already have are elephant ears and taros, dwarf cypress, arum, iris pseudo, zebra grass, a couple of lilies and some lotus. About anything else would be welcome. :)
Michele
Anybody going to have extra water plants?
You have mail.
Badseed: Are you looking for pondside plants, as well? I have two perennials to recommend. One is a Lychnis called Ragged Robin, L. flos-cuculi, and the other is a Tibetan primrose (primula florindae. Both like moist ground and are winter hardy to zone 3. I have seeds for both listed in the Trade List.
There are a lot of land plants that do well in a pond. Want to make a list? I'll start.
chelone (turtlehead)
impatiens tucked right in the rocks
tomatoes
red cardinal lobelia
chameleon
hosta
sweet pototo vine
peace lilies
beebalm
some canna
eupatorium
Looks like I'll have Fairy Moss coming out my ears (now THERE'S a sight! LOL!) so let me know if you'd like some.
Email me and let me know if there is something you are looking for. I am going to pack you a box today when I get home :-)
Wow! You all are too nice! Thanks much for the offers!! Things are really starting to come up nicely now so I will have to make a list of what I have. I also have a ton of seedlings, barring any tragedies. :) They were just potted from plugs to cells Sunday. I know I will have extra Leonurus (will grow to a flowering shrub this year-treated as an annual in my zone-in the PDB), if you want something different. I have about 16 mixed flats right now. I'll get back to you all with a plant list soon.
Branka thanks for the above suggestions too-I have some of those. :) I planted red impatiens between the deck and pond last year and it was lovely! My front beds are all cool colors mixed with yellow and the back yard is almost all hot colors. I'll find y'all something nice. :)
Sue, I'll E you in a bit. Thanks!
Weezi, those sound great! I love my rose campion and white campion, so I'd love yours too. LOL I'll E you.
Michele, I have miniature cattails. They are ( the blooms or whatever they are called) about the size of your thumb and about 2". If you want any let me know, or anybody else that wants some, as i will be dividing and getting rid of extras very soon. Donna
I too lost most of my pond plants. We had put up a PVC hoop frame to make a mini hothouse over the little ponds but had an emergency with my son in VA & had to leave on a less than 24 hour notice in Nov & wouldn't U know we had a freeze. The plastic didn't get put on & all my floater were dead when we got home. I received some parrots feather & mint at the Florida swap but that's all I have.
Hi Rutholive,I have been looking for min cattail. I bought a box at walmart that was cattail and its not.We just put in a small pond this winter and the few plants I have grow alot daily. Its so much fun to see them change everyday! If you have any cattail I would love to try it.Thanks, Weedlady
Weedlady, I still have extra mini cattails, email me and let me know if you still want a piece. Donna
I think I wrote to everyone who replied. If I missed you or you are waiting for an answer, please let me know. My three year old had to be hospitalized over the weekend and I am a bit behind.
oh Chele, is she okay????
tiG, thanks for asking. She will be. Another case of the illness that is not asthma. Some doctors really suck! I turned into the exorcist mother and now they are finally going to do some tests. :) Hey, it's my kid! Whatever it takes. Three years is way too long for this to go on.
Hi Badseed,I hope your baby will be alright.Have raised only two and there is nothing worse than the worry of a sick child.Alot of my friends kids have been having problems with all the pollen we are having here in Texas.Myself also,Geez, cant help but getting out and playing in all that yellow junk thats on my car everyday!Best Wishes for a quick recovery for your little one.

Hi, Badseed. I can send you seeds if you email me your address. No need to trade anything.
