Does anyone have ideas for netting the fish in my pond? It is a 12'x12' freeform pond with a rubber liner. Has been in about 4-5 yrs and needs cleaned but I'm having trouble netting the fish before I start. I have 6 I scooped into a deep tub of pondwater with a small pump running to aerate the water but there are about 10 more including golfish, shubunkin and two 6" koi that I just can't catch -those suckers are FAST and the more I try the more I stir up the crud in the bottom and then I can't see them at all!!
Would it help to take the water level down some? I'm concerned about concentrating the pollution and endangering the fish if I take off too much water before I catch them.I really want to clean it up before I put the plants in for the summer. I've already netted out the debris that I could but there is fine silty type stuff that really clouds the water.I use an external bio filter and barley straw and skim what I can from the surface. Also have a pondvac thing but haven't used it yet this year because it really works best if you can get in the pond to manuever and it's WAY too cold now!! Help Please, MW
