Good pictures Ludger.
Now I need someone to tell me where to find charcoal powder.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

I have bought charcoal, fine grind at pet food store, for my canaries. Think drugstore might also have it. It is to sweeten your stomach, or your soil, whatever............

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Thanks Gloria, I never thought of a pet food store.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

ludger, this is a very goo example for us newbies...Now I can imagine why I had lost some last year.
Do I understand you correctly, that they have to be rootbound before they are bumped up to a larger size pot??

Liz,
What do you use charcoal powder for?

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Thanks Ludger! That will save some of us from repeating silly questions. :)

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

Liz, Gloria gave the right advice. I use an old grinder for coofeebeans. I grind charcoal you can buy for barbecue.
Very expensive and very dusty....I grind only outside...

Pebble: Correct, the roots must have filled the pot before repotting.I believe most brugs all over the world are passed by to large pots and too much water in such large pots.

Glory: If you cut roots or twigs you can use charcoal powder for desinfection.

Badseed: We have a word here: There are no silly questions there are only silly replies.
Each question is good because anyone is wondering...smile.

Thanks Ludger! Your pictures suppliment your response to my string about how deep to transplant cuttings. You are a fine patient teacher. You pulled some of your own plants to make the pictures for our benefit. How kind and thoughtful!

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Ludger! I'm STILL repotting to early, I can't believe it! Thanks for the photo I'll KEEP this in mind.

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

Ludger and others, sure glad I found time today to zero in on this thread. Learned a lot, guess I transplanted my four cuttings too soon, they did have lots of roots but not like your photo. I sure never knew about using charcoal, and i suppose that brugs are not the only plant to benefit. I mixed in Planters 2, mychorrhizae, a little Osmocote, and a little of my compost with the Whitney Farms Potting Mix for replanting the brugs, which i did about 10 days ago. The new leaves are a lovely green. Donna

Padre, I thank you so much for your words. I have had a bad day at work, your words helped me.

Back to smile..: My brugs do know me..wink wink...if I come in with my camera ( in GH ) they all shout: OOO, new pictures for Daves and BGI. My brugs love it...smile again.
