Today we plan to get the second raised bed ready for planting and get the potatoes in the soil. We tilled and fertilized one bed on Tuesday and I planted onion sets and spinach seed in most of it yesterday evening. If we can get a bed a day done and work just 3 days a week on the project we will be finished in a couple weeks. Then on to the flower beds. Not that I don't work in them a bit daily anyway. But I do just a little in them while checking on the perennials trying to come up for the season.
Does anyone on here have extra domestic gooseberries or red raspberries to spare? I'll gladly pay postage or trade iris, suprise lilies, daffodils, or daylilies.
I have a large order for Henry Fields figured out. Will get it in the mail sometime next week. It will take us 2 or 3 days to dig all those tree holes to get ready for them. I'm getting fruit trees, nut trees and some gooseberries and red raspberries if I don't find them from individuals. I feel a real urgency this spring to get the backyard orchard/vineyard finished. I was that way a few years ago about the raised beds and have never once regretted doing it.
We'll have to keep the poultry in their pen for a few days while we get the beds planted and wire of some sort(mostly poultry wire)over the beds to keep the birds from scratching everything back out.
GOD bless and keep each and all of you.
