This is exactly the Orange Jasmine I just purchsed. Wondering how large it will grow and if it will grow into a bush as opposed to groundcover. thinking of purchasing another. The fragrance is wonderful.
I'm not sure how big they get. I bought mine as a 'standard', a tree form. It has a 3 foot tall base and then a round ball of leaves on top about 2 feet across. I prune it regularly to keep this form. But if I didn't prune it, it would just keep on growing . . . So yes, I think it could become a bush instead of ground cover. Be very careful about keeping the soil evenly moist. I let my other plants dry out once, and they died! Also they need acid fertilizer like Miracid monthly.
I agree, they DO have a heavenly fragrance!
Just got some 2-3 inch seedlings. How long will it take to get blooms?
I bought a night time jasmine seedling & it grew fast & bloomed same year. Thanks,
Patty
I have just had this plant identified as Murraya paniculata or orange jasmine. This one is about 8 feet in height, and close to that in width. It is evergreen in our South Louisiana climate. Foliage is glossy dark green, white flowers smell heavenly. Flower clusters are followed by an occasional single medium-size red berry. Flowers bloom several times a year, thus flowers and berries may appear at the same time. I hear that it spreads by suckers, so I will be watching for new plants to adopt.
