I was just out snailing and found this one! On one of my sangs...........the glossy leafed one with such pretty leaves! I have not seen this one bloom yet!
Check out the maroon spots on my bud!
Gosh, Kell, if you made your post at 4:48 am, that may be why the leaveslooked funny! oh yeah you have a camera picture.
That looks a little bit like the cyclamen mite damage I endured last summer. It was on the buds and new growth, and buds all droppped, sangs effected the worst.
Actually the buds never got that far along with the mites, maybe it something else.
Oh it is not bugs, it is very pretty actually. I do not think it is damage. I can't wait to see what this one will look like!
Whenever I've had buds on anything with dark color on buds, they were either red blooms or deep colors! Wish you luck, keep us posted!
LOL Gloria....... I can always hope. Though it could be red huh...............for it is a sang. I sure hope nothing happens to this bud.......there are more but smaller. I just want to see what this one will look like. I can't remember if Liz said hers like this one, has bloomed yet. I bought this as a 4 incher.
The nursery still has this one on their list so if I see it again which I bet I will, I will buy a few for you guys who are dying to try a sang. LOL.....I am assuming the flower will be a beauty.
Kell, good luck with your Sang. bud. I am trying to root some Sanguinea cuttings right now, but so far no roots. My other Sanguinea, I think it is a yellow one, is still alive but frost took it back to the roots. Actually I lost a couple of my brugs. this winter because where they were planted gets no sun in the winter and the ground
stayed too wet. I think I am going to try planting in pots this year and putting them in the winter. At least for that area of the garden.
Patricia
Hi Patricia. How are you feeling? 100% back to normal? I am amazed you had that much frost to take a sang to the ground. I had some top leaves get frostbite, that is about all. Which ones did you lose? Maybe I have them to share.
My sangs that were left outdoors all died including the roots, but Liz and Jeannes seem to be doing very well outside. They live close to the ocean while I live a few kilometers away. That's what I call borderline hardy LOL.
I'm looking forward to seeing it Bloom Kell! It's quite possible it has some Vulcanicola genes in it...Vulcanicola buds can be quite dark sometimes!
Best wishes always,
Bruno
Did it bloom yet? It looks so close!
SO am I Bruno! Well, I just stopped by it while I was out snailing and it has not changed at all! At first I could not see it and I panicked........but it is still there............... it is only about 2 inches long and the other ones are only 1 inch long........so I think we have a little while to go.
