I can't believe it. Those D*** voles ate my whole patch of butterfly ginger (in addition to other bulbs.) I've been moving this one ginger plant around with me for YEARS! From house to house it's went. (this was one of my first plant trades from YEARS ago) Does anyone have any extra to spare? Let me know what your looking for, I'll try to come up with it. Right now my plants are still dormant but will go out and buy something if I have to. Hoping my new cats can take care of this darn vole problem. I'm scared to see what else the nasty critters have destroyed.
Thanks,
Kristi
Thanks everyone! Kristi
Wanted Hedychium coronarium- Butterfly ginger
I have some, email me.
If you need more, I have plenty if it's the white one.
I only have one ginger, the blue one. How do I take cuttings or is that possible? Anyone?
Thanks everyone for the offers and I'm sorry I haven't responded sooner! I've got some coming.
Brugie- the blue ginger is called Dichorisandra thyrsiflora it's not really a true ginger. It is very easy to start, in water or soil. Take a cutting at one of the nodes. This is how I start mine.
Here is some info. on blue ginger http://www.floridagardener.com/pom/dichorisandra.htm

Thanks Kristi. I've tried twice and the bottom of the cuttings just rot. I'll try water this time and see what happens.
I need a piece of blue ginger, someone! not for me, but for a good friend. can anyone help????
Tig- my plant is just a small start. Had to leave the large plant behind when I moved but I'll try to root a few pieces of it.
don't hurt your plant, please! and if by some miracle mine comes back, I'll have it, but it's not looking good.
It won't hurt it Tig! I'll give it a shot. A trim might give it a growth spurt *grin*
thank you, but... did you ever get any butterfly ginger? if I got an email from you, I lost it.
Thanks Tig, I did get some. I ment to email and tell you, then forgot. My attention span is that of a knat, LOL...
