With this week's layoff scare at Howie's job ( http://davesgarden.com/t/376080/ ) came the realization that he really needs to knuckle down and learn more about Macs, Photoshop, and QuarkXpress so he's more marketable if the worst does happen sometime.

So, we've sold our Micron laptop PC and plan to buy a used iBook with the money. We're hoping to get at least a G3. We're lurking around eBay for one, as well as other online venues. He uses both PC and Mac at his job, but I am clueless about Macs.

Any advice?
