Can ya'll clue me in to what kind of symptoms I might experience if my modem is on the way out? I've been having a terrible time lately...oftentimes I get disconnected but yet the monitor icon at the bottom of my screen says I am still connected...what it shows tho is that the number of bytes rec'd and sent are no longer increasing, like they are blocked or frozen. Sometimes this happens after only being online for 3 minutes, other times I can go for an hr or so before it happens. (Once I was trying to get online help from my server, Mindspring/Earthlink, and while waiting my system turned off...apparently re-booted itself) I have Symantec Norton Internet Security which offers a firewall and anti-virus...am wondering about conflicts. By the way, am using Win98, have a "38" modem and have plenty of free space. Any clues?
