last weird seed swap update

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

90% of them were mailed today, the rest will go out in the morning. I hope you get something really nice, I did try hard. There were several hundred packs to be swapped around, and to me it was a good thing. Hope you all think so to.
If you wouldn't mind, please post here or email me when yours arrives, thanks

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I forgot, the night I did the packages my computer was down. The very large seeds are this: Canavalia rosea (Bay Bean) and they are not marked. If you got one, you will know it right away.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Got mine today!!!!!!Thanks Tig

and what do I do with the hockey puck?LOL

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

that's the one I mentioned above. Perhaps Buttoneer will come and tell us, I couldn't find instructions anywhere.

Bloomingdale, NJ(Zone 6a)

Got mine today-lots of cool stuff-now I have to go and look them all up since I have absolutely no idea what most of them are-more the fun!! (PS-I got a hockey puck too!)
Thanks so much for doing this.
Kathy

Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

got mine - did you dump some bonus seeds loose in the envelope???

Ok, anyone want some datura and brug seeds? I REALLY don't do them! LOL, cant catch me on that one!

Thanks tiG, you did a great job (except for the brugs....)

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

oh Kathleen, did something come loose???? I'm so sorry. and I tried to suck you back into the brug world, really I did.

Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

LOL, I know, and I'll forgive you this time!

I got mine today as well. I just finished looking them all up. I can't wait to grow some of them. Others seem challenging, but I will probably give them all a try. Thanks, tiG! Is the puck a mango?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

no, it's Canavalia rosea (Bay Bean), sorry my computer was down the night I packaged them and couldn't remember the name. Can't wait to see what some of you grow!!

Mount Prospect, IL(Zone 5a)

Mine came today. Thank you for all the work you put into this. Doris

tiG, is it really canavalia rosea? This is the only photo I could find of the seed, and it doesn't look like the hockey puck I received. http://www.starwon.com.au/~mlt/plants/Canavalia_rosea.htm

Paxton, FL(Zone 8a)

How come you guys way up north got yours before I got mine (you did send me one didn't you tiG?)? I'm much closer to GA than you guys are.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

see this thread, where Buttoneer described them. http://davesgarden.com/t/372418/

Pam, some went out this morning, couldn't get to the PO saturday cause DH worked.

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

I don't believe I received any hockey pucks, but I did get LOTS of really cool interesting seeds! I'll have to run some Goggle searches and find out the best means to germinate them.

Thanks SO MUCH tiG for hostessing this wonderfully WEIRD seed swap! Here's hoping it becomes an annual event. ;~)

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Shirley if you got one you would know it for sure LOL!!! I do hope everyone is/will be pleased. I wish I could blink the out of country packages to them right away. But I do hope they will be there soon.

Wah...I don't have mine yet either GingerLily. Probably tomorrow. I can't wait!

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Got mine today! Thanks, tiG!! This was a fun swap ~ I hope we do it again :)

Now, I have to go look-up most of my seeds to figure out what I'm planting ~ lol!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I had to look them all up when they came in, it was great fun.

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Thanks tiG, My seeds came today. I got several that I had never heard of and a few that I wanted and then there are the ones to share with others since there are so many of those.

Thanks again for doing all the work involved!

Hugs, Lani

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

y'all can probably tell, I didn't split up the packs. well, a couple that were especially huge, but I was getting lost just doing what I did. I wanted to make sure you didn't get your own back and if I'd split them up, there would have been 3 or 4 times as many to keep track of. So that plan flew out the window right away:) lol

Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

Hmmm, that must be how I got 1,000,000 Pawlownia tomentosa seeds! Which I will share, if anyone is interested.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

shoot, I did mean to split those LOL!!! sorry, it was 2:30 in the morning.

Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

2:30 in the morning!!! That is dedication!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

no, that is computer down and the only time I could pull myself away and concentrate on one thing LOL!!! it was actually a good thing the computer went down that night, I had just gotten the last package that same day and I needed to get these out, hoping you can grow some of them this year. God works in mysterious ways, eh??

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I keep checking on that hockey puck, the baybeans picture look like smaller beans, like garden beans.......

Livermore, CA(Zone 9a)

I got my seed today !! Thank Tig for all the work you put in this trade. I received quite a few seeds that I have never heard of before. Thanks Again

Well, duh. Sorry, tiG. The first post saying 90 percent just went right out of my head soon as it got there.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

they are all out, left yesterday, you should have it tomorrow I would think.

Here I am, waving my hand.....mine are here - mine are here....Oh tiG....thank you so very very much...Oh how fun...So many cool and wonderful seeds. I thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. I appreciate all your hard work and super organizational skills to get this all together. Bless you!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

you are more than welcome. hope they all sprout!!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

For the hockey pucks, Poppysue found this link. I'm pretty sure that is what they are. I just got some from my cousin in the mail today. I posted a picture someplace. Will have to come back with a link for it.

Just what I was thinking Brugie :) I didn't get one but these sorta look like hockey pucks. Maybe planting will be similar. From what I read canavalia rosea also floats around the world on ocean currents

That's the hockey puck I got! Thanks, Poppysue. Now to learn how to germinate it.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I was told to drill a hole through it on the edge so water will go into it. I had Jim drill a couple of them. That shell is really thick. I hope it will soften up enough to open. I'm just going to stick them in a couple of pots and hope for the best.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

a dremel works great for hard seeds like this. I didn't keep one, but would think that would work too.

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Kathleen,

Please DO SHARE some of the 1,000,000 Pawlownia tomentosa seeds! I didn't bother to count them out! Just grabbed "a few" and put them in a brown envelope. ;~)

Why do you think I have them and 2 types of Maple seeds to GIVE AWAY on this forum??? :~) Need any Amur or Stripped Bark Maple seeds?????

Do save a couple of seeds, because they really are beautiful trees!

I got'em, I got'em! Wow, will I be doing some research. No idea what some of these are. Think we might should build a special arbor for the sea heart. Reckon it's too cold for them to survive here on the mainland? Maybe it should be a keepsake instead.

Thanks so much tiG. You are a sweetheart to provide so much fun for us. What a job this must have been. Don't I owe some postage? Don't remember sending any.
