Aquilegia Italian Marble (Aquilegia variegata aurea)

Frederick, MD(Zone 6a)

Have just 10 seeds, they've been appropriately 'fridged' for 2 weeks. Will send 2 seeds to 5 people - they only have a 75% germination rate so I'm not asking for any seeds in return.

Hi, dohopp. I saw this thread and just had to find out what Aquilegia 'Italian Marble' was, so I looked it up on the web. Since the seed companies call it an heirloom seed, I am assuming it is a variegated-leaved variety sometimes called 'Woodside' or A. vulgaris 'Vervaeneana Group': http://plantsdatabase.com/go/2571/ I mention this because the seeds might come cheaper under the old standard names. By the way, seeds from this columbine come back true to the plant, so once you've got it, you can harvest seed.

Thanks Weezingreens! It's what we're hoping for - buy a pack, plant and harvest seeds! We have so much land to cover it would cost us millions if we bought plants. Ten years from now I'll post pix!

I'm glad it was good information for you, dohopp. I'm an avid seed collector, so I always love plants that come back true from seed! The A. flabellatas are very sweet little columbine that put out copious amounts of good seed. Blue seems to be the predominant color in the blooms. I had seed if you'd like some. In fact, click on my name and check out my seed trading list. I usually note the true from seed plants.
