Croton 'Victoria Gold Bell'
Codiaeum variegatum

Croton ''Victoria Gold Bell'. I love this croton for its unusual bell leaves. It's quite a sight to see them all dangling. It has more red and orange on it now.

Hi,

I have one like this but it has much more red on it. Do you think that yours is more green because of limited sun?

Mine has more red in it now. Gosh, I just realized how long I've had this plant. Wow! I'm usually not great with houseplants, but this one has done okay for me. I take it outside in the summer and it loves the light. I'll have to find a picture of it so you can see what it looks like now.

Mine was labeled "Angel Bell". This photo was just moved to the "Victoria Gold Bell" entry in Plantfiles. Hmmmmm. Perhaps the tag was wrong?

I don't know. In your photo caption from when you submitted the photo, you have this written

Quoting:
"Croton ''Victoria Gold Bell'. I love this croton for its unusual bell leaves. It's quite a sight to see them all dangling. It has more red and orange on it now."

Do we need to move it to a different entry?

Ooh, I'm going to have to look. I could have sworn it said Angel Bells. Maybe that was the grower's tag? I'll have to look, Joan.

Thanks Kimberley. Let me know what you find. If it is 'Angel Bells' you will have to create an entry for it, as there isn't one yet. I think it might be Victoria Gold Bell though? Now that your plant is older, does it look like this one?

It sure does! The distributor's logo confirmed it -- I remembered the Angel part and thought it was 'Angel Bell'. LOL It is 'Victoria Gold Bell'.

Thanks for checking Kimberley. I'm glad it finally has a place to call home. :)

Update - it's loved being outside in the summers. I repotted it after root pruning it, adding some worm castings to the mix, and it thrived this year. It bloomed for the first time!

RIP, croton. I went out west for a month and my hubby forgot to water this plant and my jasmine. The jasmine went dormant and made it. This one...Not so much. *Sniffle* I need another one.

I will try and root one for you.

Please mail me in about 3 weeks to see if it works. OK?

Thank you! I had good luck just sticking cuttings right down in the same pot.

Good for you. They are a hearty group.
