Gee Jenks, after seeing your pic I am more determined than ever to try these this year. They have been on my want list for a few years now, just haven't gotten around to actually buying them. Do you soak yours before planting them? Great pic.

Yes, It is a nice blue huh? As they age, they get a little on the violet side. I will snap another photo to show you if you'd like.
I didn't soak them, but I put the rhizomes in the ground last summer with lots of lime (I have red clay acidic soil, 10-10-10 (believe it or not) and mulch.

Jenks, love that blue, good shot of a lovely flower.

Broots, if you are in zone 2 I don't think you can grow it except in a pot, actually I am in zone 5 or 6 sometimes, and I'g mot even sure i can grow it but intend to try. Donna

Yes, a very nice blue! And blue is so hard to capture on film.

Where would I be able to buy such a beautiful rhizome? The stores where I live (Tulsa, OK zone 6a) offer 'floor sweepings' from the minor bulb houses in Holland. I wouldn't know what a quality Anemone rhizome would look like.

Is zone 6a suitable? Can you give me a link to better Anemone? Is it too late to grow it at this point?

Thanks,

Hi,
The photo is really nice!
I recently purchased the bulbs of this type of flowers. I will try to post a pic of these bulbs. I soaked them in water and then planted and its been about 8 days and i dont see any sign of germination. I am in zone 7b and the temps are good here averaged to 70/55. Any idea how long does this take to show up the shoots?

Thx

I had planted them in the Fall of 02 and they came up in early spring 03. I planted a few more in early spring this year because that one in particular has not bloomed yet and they are just now a few inches tall. I guess it was about a month, but I did not soak mine first. Some red ones that I planted last fall (03) bloomed already. I had assumed the ones I just planted will not bloom until next spring.

Hmmm.. ok thank you. I have mine in pots so not sure if i will keep them for the rotation of a year...will wait till few more days.
Thx.
