Plant Tabs????

Where do you all buy your plant tabs (fertilizer tabs) for your water plants? I've always gotten ours from "That Pet Place" and this year, they have gone through the roof on their prices for a fewer amount of tabs. I'll get them if I have to but would like to hear where you get yours. Thanks!

WalMart. But up here there's nothing out as of yet cause we're still very cold. As soon as they come out I'll check the price and let you know.

Vic, you can use any kind of plant sticks (jobes, etc,) or spikes. The higher the middle #, the better. I don't fertilize the non blooming plants, just the lilies and lotus for blooms.

Branka...would the jobe type sticks hurt the fish???? We have lots of fish. What do you think? Thanks Sledder...We have all the summer stuff out down here. I'm going to Wally World later.I'll check it out. Branka, I might go ahead and pick up some jobe sticks while I'm there. Thanks for your input, both of you.

Vic, they do not hurt the fish, I use them all the time, alot of people do. I believe the properties are the same as what's in the plant tabs. They just look different and are packaged different.

The ones that a lot of people prefer for the lilies are jobes tomato spikes. I can never find them, so I pick up whatever I can find. Last fall I got several bottles of ponds tabs on sale for .75 each! I was so exited :).

Well how cool is that! I thank you so much and I'll let you know if I find the tomato spikes. If I do, I'll send you some!

Well Branka, you were right, the tomato spikes must be hard to find. But I did pick up two packages as the water plants are growing and it's time to transplant and feed them. I plan to spend the next two days at the water garden. Ahhhhhhh...the joys of spring :-)

Must be nice, mine are still frozen over. I think by Saturday they may be thawed. I can only hope! I keep looking for the crocus, but nothing yet. Have fun playing in the pond!

I never have tried plant spikes. I can barely get in my pond to get to the lilies to feed them anyway. My plants seem very happy without them. I have a full complement of amphibians too--fish, frogs, snakes. I haven't seen any salamanders or skinks, but I'm sure they are around too.
