Good orange for pot in GA

Mableton, GA(Zone 7b)

Hey guys,

I'm wondering if anyone has good suggestions for a first timer looking for an orange to put in a 21" plastic pot in full Hotlanta humid summer sun? I'm probably going to put it on my patio where I have a small wrap around raised bed which has 2 new David Austin style roses in it and numerous perennials all in pinks and yellows with a few blues. Do ya think a brug would be overkill? It might run me out of room to even sit on this 8x10 patio! lol

ooooh...I have these double purple petunias that are begging for a spot-they'd look great around the bottom in the pot.....

Hi eb angie,

welcome here at Daves Crazy Brugfamily, am german, sorry for some strange words...lol.
If your double purple petunias are doing well, try a Charles Grimaldi or Dr Sues. They do great with purple petunias. You must water and water and water during hot Georgian Summer. Not at 4 o clock pm when the thunderstorm is coming...

If you can overwinter the brug in a bright and temperated room you also can try a versicolor orange or peach.

angie, I can bring one of the above to the swap. or you could send postage if you want them now. I also have v. peach.

oo-oo-oo! Yes please tiG! Hmm...now or later...what do you think? Is May31st too late? Do you have seedlings or seeds? I don't really care which kind, just orange as can be and if it's hardy in a big pot that'd be a plus. I want to try and make a standard. Do they all do this naturally or are some prone to it? I'll take your expert selection tiG, whatever you think. I haven't potted the petunias or anything yet. They are in a sunny windowsill waiting and the pot is brand new.

these are cuttings I've overwintered. You can grow this one as a standard this year and at the swap I'll show you what to do for next year. They will all make a standard, but you will have to bring it in for the winter, somewhere cool is fine, closet, garage, basement. you have mail
