YES!! When it get to tall just cut it off and put it in either water or dirt. It will make many plants you can cut the stalk into several pieces if you want...6 to 8 inches in legnth.

It seems like about 2 yrs.

hi..
looks like i can ask you a question since i have a similar plant.

I have a 7 feet long Dumb Cane. after seeing some pictures on Internet now i feel like i have the tallest Dumb Cane so far i have seen.
It's been a great plant, but yesterday i noticed very close to the pot there is a very large dry whole on it's body. i can see there is now only an inch that it can keep him standing. i had laid him to a tall stick. so this is how it stays standing.
i am sooo sad. i do not want to see him dying. every leave is so healthy but soon there will be no connection to the pot. i am sure this is a sort of sickness, it is eating him each day. i took the photographs that i'd like to ask your opinions. please help me if you have heard anything about this. i am willing to send you small jpeg images of it's sickness.
it is a beautiful plant and had experienced lots of problems before it came to me. and i believe i took a good care of it. now i need your help, what to get, what to do.
hope to hear from you..
here is the image i attached of my plant, please take a look....
thanks,
Murat

Murat Cut the stalk and start it over you have a baby comming from the root of the damaged part. You can cut up the stalk into 3 sections and have 4 plants. I find the best thing to do is root them in water. A bucket works best for me. The picture I have on PD I cut down a few weeks ago. They will grow tall soon!

I have had my two beautiful dumb canes for three years they have been in my sun room for two years just this winter it got a bit to cold and now the leaves are brown and soft the babys are the same way.I cut some of the leaves off I hope I can save them I did move them back in the house.I hope I can get some help from someone on what to do next I will do my best to save them. One is 8ft and the other is 7ft

I had a dumb cane whose stem became soft. I cut the stem and rooted it in water. I recently planted it and the bottom leaves are browning at an alerming rate. I plan to cut it and root it in water again.
How can I prevent so much leaf loss in the future?

I have a dieffenbachia, that I have been growing for 3 years, it came from a huge plant that had been growing for 20 plus years. I have it in a huge planter, and it's bending. I would like it to get thicker and taller, what can I do? My son just pulled a leaf off, can I start that in water and when it roots plant it in the same planter as my other one. Pictures I have seen look like there is several in one pot, is that what makes them so full. Any answers, please email me at triciamostad@live.com
