Old wiener new weiner weiner woes ..................help!

I need advice: I have a lovely, healthy, fit ,shiny-coat, super well behaved 17yr old (yes 17) Dachound. I love him immensely.
About 9 months ago we ended up(through a series of random misshaps) with a 5 week old puppy(too young,poor thing). A mini-long-hair Dachound, very sweet.
We finally have him trained to pee etc. outside. O.K. great, no pee in the house right? Wrong!!
My old guy has taken to lifting his leg (dayly) in the spot where the puppy's paper used to be. I know its not incontinence(been there w/ last Dax), and I understand his need to mark his turf, but I'm losing it here w/ all the pee!
I was extra attentive to my old guy when the pup came , but......
Also Schnitzie(the oldy) is a very sensitive doggy
