Bad news........

I got the news this evening,my mothers cancer is back and developing quickly.Funny..the doctors never mentioned this a few days ago..my sister had to wrestle the news out of them.Its like Oh well...we get paid no matter what you know.She has 6 months to a year...I fear its gonna be 6 months or less.She has a mass next to her kidney and a blood clot in her digestive area.So I may not be around much for a while.Very hard on all 3 of us.
I'll get the plants promised sent this weekend......

As someone who has been where you are now, my advise; Spend all the time you can with your mother. Tell her how much you love her every chance you get. We will all pray that she is spared the pain of this horrible disease. Through this rough time, remember God loves you.

Sorry to hear that Kyle. Maybe the doctors were trying to keep the news from your mother... rather than the family. I know when my sister was sick she didn't want to hear how bad it was - she didn't want to know. We'll be praying for you & your family. I'm sure it's hard on you all.

Kyle, I'm sorry to hear this news about your mother. I have your family in my prayers. Spend as much time with your mother as you can. When my mother was very ill before she passed away we put together a "Good Memories" album full of pictures and little stories of good times that we spent together at family gatherings, picnics, birthdays, photos of all of us when we were newborns, special events like graduations,etc and she loved it.

We also put all her favourite songs on tapes. She loved Mahallia Jackson spirituals and she listened to them on a Walkman in the hospital. My sister's and I took turns doing her hair and putting makeup on her, something that she would never have done and kept her in beautiful dressing gowns.

The doctors were kind enough to grant my sisters and I a "sleep over" as they do let the family stay sometimes. She was in a private room so it was okay. The nurses supplied us with cots and we had a "pajama party" order in pizza and popcorn and watched movies. It was my Mom's first sleep over and she had a wonderful time. The nurses brought in desserts and many of them came and spent time with my mom that evening.

It was good that we did these things as she only lasted 4 weeks in the hospital. She passed away quietly and peacefully in her sleep one night. I took the album and had color photocopies made for everyone in my family especially for those who lived out of province or in the US and couldn't see her very much.

You can probably find special things to do with your mother I'm sure. Make each and every moment count and may your time with your mother be blessed moments.

Be sure to also take care of yourself Kyle. My heart goes out to you and your sister.

Kyle, words just cannot express how deeply I feel for all three of you. I went through it with my Mom with heart disease, and cancer with my Dad; I just wish I could do or say something to make the three of you feel better in some way. I think it may be a good idea to meet, the three of you, with her doctor and discuss with him his seeminly careless attitude, and to make sure he will work with all of you to make her days as confortable as possible.

Kyle,I am very sorry to hear this.It will be a very hard time for all of you. As Joydie and Roz told you - we did with our father 4 jears ago.To be honest and open to each other will be very good.

Kyle, devastating news about your dear Mother. I too went thru this with my mother, and I echo the advise given to you by others who have gone through it. Spend as much time with your mother as you can, they will carry you for the rest of your life. I often think back at those days, and am so grateful that I came home to take care of her, the memories that we give ourselves by spending the time with our mother will truly be the best ones. Even though they werent the best of times, you would be surprised how comforting they are in the future.
I know that there isnt anything that i can do to help you through these days, just know I am thinking about you and praying for your mother. (((hugs)))

Kyle . . this is truly very sad news. There is little for me to say except that I will pray for you to have strength because I know that it takes alot. If your mother is on home health, then she will be kept very comfortable and I think that is important. My heart feels the pain that yours does.

Thanks all.........she is comming home next week.Not much they can do at the hospital. Time is running out.

Dear Kyle, I am so sorry to hear of your pain. I too have gone through it and I have come to realize that it is the pain of love. the more we love the more we render ourselves vulnerable to this pain. We will keep you, your mother and all your family in our prayers here at our health care center. You are right where God wants you - in His arms. Rest there and know that you are loved.
