Some time ago I showed you my new selfmade sowing bed with bottom heat. I promised you to show it again with first seedlings. Here they are.

some seedlings are grown a little to long but I will repot them deeper, like tomatoes they will get more roots at the steem.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Ludger, you are as bad as I am!!! and thanks, I have always wondered if you could plant them deeper like tomatoes. I've started to ask several times and always forget.

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

Yes Liz.

Ra I am wondering each year, even if I know, wether this small seedlings will really become so tall.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Wow Ludger! Impressive set up. How many thousand Brugs do you have now? LOL

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Wowee!!! You're going to be a busy man this summer.

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

I didnt count them, some will go while repotting. And:It is only one sowing bed I showed,in GH are more seeds sowed out...dont tell it,I know: Crazy these germans..lol.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Those seedlings are looking really good. You are going to be busy getting them all transplanted and tagged. Have fun!!

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

Thank you Shirley, I will have fun..
I am using coloured sticks and numbers for tagging, itīs easier. 007 is my Avalon, 700 are all Avalonseedlings,701 jellow stick is Avalon x Grimaldi 777 red stick is Avalon x Rothkirch and so on.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

hope that red stick is a foreteller!!!!

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

I learned a new english word: Yes, I also hope it is a foreteller.
Wait for my first blue sticks..lol.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

LOL - I'll take all your extra 777s. Oh and I don't have an 007 (Bond,James Bond). I think I might have a yellow stick and a 700.
This is James Bond code right? LOL.
I have a code too - half the time I can't remember what it is.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Gosh and to think how I worry over mine and treat the seeds like they are made of eggshells........carefully have them laid out! How every germination is cause for celebration..........LOL...............this sure puts that into perspective!

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Love it Ludger! My way of planting the seeds. Can't wait to see them all grown up.

Ludger,
That is an impressive setup you have. I did this with the seeds this time. I mass sowed my brug seeds and my tomato and pepper seeds like this. Each flat has a different kind of each in them, but I put markers on every little square pot in the flat so I know what the seeds are. I have limited bottom heating so I had to make it stretch.

You are going to have some beauties when all those brugs bloom. I think you should send the rejects to Canadians...lol..I know Ruth Ann, MissLizzy and Jeanne would agree with me! hehehe

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

Good that you all like it.
I never will post rejects...lol..thatīs for kompost.

Calera, OK(Zone 7b)

Thank you, Ludger, for the information about repotting burgs like tomatoes. Does it matter how deep? In other words, will they be too deeply planted if the soil comes almost to the bottom leaves? Thanks again for your help.

Ah shucks Ludger...lol.

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

Hi mamajen, I only planted about the half size from the steem deeper, never til the bottom leaves.I will try it this year..
As deeper you plant the seedling as more careful you must water it first time.If you will give to much water the young steem could become mushy and rotted. It first must "change" to a rootīs steem.

Calera, OK(Zone 7b)

Thanks, Ludger. I have seedlings that are growing very long too. Now I know what to do for them. Also, I'll remember to be very careful with the water after transplanting. The thing about watering makes a lot of sense when you stop and think about it but I'm sure it would never have occurred to me without your suggestion. Thanks
