Siberian Huskys

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

As you already know, DH bought me a baby Siberian Husky for a Valentine. He is adorable and I love him already. Since he is less than two months old he cannot control his bladder or bowels yet. I have read much about these beautiful dogs tonight and some people say they are so difficult to train and are very hyper. Others say they are super intelligent and can be trained with a little more work than, say, a sheltie. DH and I are doing a LOT of cleaning up after Nicholai. He is really too young to housebreak (tho we are trying!) and absolutely too young to crate train. This is his sixth night here and he is SO much quieter than he was the first four nights in the bathroom where we confine him at night. During the day he may be in the bathroom, hall and living room with us. I have never trained a Husky before.....collies and retrievers, and they were duck soup. I fear that this little guy will be a REAL challenge, but worth all the trouble when he grows up. DH told me that if I am afraid Nicholai will not work out, now is the time to sell him. I really want to keep the darling fella but I don't know anyone who has trained a Husky. My cousin has a five year old one, but he is nearly always confined to his crate.......and has been since he was a puppy. He was quite a chewer and both my cousin and her husband worked, so it was easier for them to keep the dog confined. I don't want that for Nicholai. And I DO want to keep him. Do any of you have any experience with Huskys? I am anxious to know what you think about this situation. If he is trained lovingly and consistently do you think he will grow up to be a good dog and a good companion? The more I read and think, the more confused I become. I love him and don't want to let him go if he will be a good adult, but people are barraging me with opinions and I'm in a quandry. Any suggestions, etc? Thanks to all of you who can give me some input.
