Took this flower outside for best lighting...and look whats on the ground!!LOLThis hibiscus is called "Molly Cummings"
A sign of things to come..
That is one BIG bloom Kyle!!!
Looks like Christmas!
I love this variety...so dark!
I will have to really look at my Hibiscus this year when they bloom. I have no idea what they are..got them at the farmer's market from a guy who just sells them by color. Sells them cheap and gives good growing advice for free.
That is my favorite color and my favorite plant. Beautiful.
Kristi, the only good thing about the snow is that it will melt. This time of the year, it usually doesn't stick around long. You guys out east have sure had your share of it this year. Next comes all the rains....Hope we don't have flooding this year.
weeds, is that farmers market going to be close to the RU??
March 2 - Snowstorm in Iowa
Kyle, if that big beauty gets lonesome you can send it up to keep mine company? LOL
Don't know the name of mine, I am sorry to say. Tried at one time to get help with the ID but no one seemed to have any ideas. I have looked high and low and have not found a picture of this one anywhere. Even the stamen are unique.
arlene
Arlene I have one too and I got it identified last year. When I get a chance tonight I'll look it up for you..its an older type from years ago.I have a tree form of it! :-)
Oh, Kyle, I would love to see a picture of yours sometime and it will be so happy to get a name. Mine is in its 5th year. How old is yours. I think I need to learn to take cuttings from it. I read somewhere that a hibiscus does not live forever. I would be so sad if I lost it.
Thank you so much
a
PS I even bought a cd of hibiscus pictures from the Hibiscus Society and didn't find it on there either.
If you would be interested in looking at that cd I could bring it to you at the Iowa roundup.
you two are very lucky!!!
Kyle,
Yours is so much darker than mine but I think this is it! Will bring the cd; well actually I can copy it so you can have your own. duh! I forget I can do that. Oh, yes, we are lucky and with any luck I will take cuttings and make more!
This is my first love and now it has a name!
My friend . . . . Holly's Pride
Thank you, Kyle!
You've made my day!
Another gorgeous flower!
tiG, nope, that farmers market is in PC and he only has 3 or 4 kinds anyway. I hope to go to his house this summer and see just what he does have!
I have a funny story to tell. My friend Everdina and I went to the bitanical center in DM today . It was getting close to five. We were having a good time enjoying the plants and visiting. We didn't notice that everybody had left. We decided it was time to leave and that is when we noticed there was nobody around . It was about 6 by then and was starting to get a little dark. You guessed it . We got locked in. We were locked in the Bitanical center!! That was a very strange feeling. We went from room to room trying to find someone. Finely we found a very nice lady that let us out. The funny thing is that the men were out in the car waiting on us and visiting and didn't even notice that everybody had left. Didn't even wonder where we were. We had a great time greenhouse hopping today even if we did get locked in.
Linda, that is funny. At least you were locked in a warm place. Did you get to meet Kyle while you were there? Gosh, I might have to try that some time. A little slip here and there would never be missed, would they? Glad you got out okay.
I would like to be alone in that botanical Garden....with some large bags, lol.
Kyle, the Hibiscus are very good.
get me on the way Ludger!!! I never realized just how beautiful these plants are until this past summer.
Ok tiG, 6.oo o clock at the large bush behind the GH`S...
That would be the beautiful lilac bush up there. :-) Never seen anything like it. Hope Kyle has a picture he can post.
No I didn't get to see Kyle. I met him last year when I was there with my friend Everdina. Actualy there were three of us women there yesterday. I guess it closes at five and it was almost five when we went in. There were four people in there when we went in and we were so engrossed in the plants that we didn't even notice that they had closed.
