This is a recipe of President Carter's mother,Ms Lillian.
We all love it.
1 cup+2TB Crisco
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
6 Eggs
1 tsp.vanilla
Cream shortening and sugar.Add eggs,one at a time,
beating well after each.Beat till very fluffy.
Blend in flour and vanilla.Pour into a greased and
floured 10"tube pan.Place in cold oven.Turn oven to
325 degrees and bake 1 hour.Check with cake tester
and continue baking if not done.
The book I got this from didn't have salt in the
recipe,but I sometimes add 1/4 tsp.
