I have a Vulcanicola. Are they all alike, or might mine be different in color and shape? Thanks for any help.

Gloria, they dont be all alike. Yellow, orange and red might be possible. Sometimes bright sometimes darker.

that leaf by the bloom looks more deeply serrated than my pink. The lower branch if from the same plant looks more like mine.

Oh I do not know why I thought Roter Vulcan was different looking. Liz.....am I confused again?

Why are all those leaves so yellow Ludger?

LOL Gloria........which ones don't you have?

And this is mine, or should I say 'was' mine. All that is left of if is some pollen and the seeds I got from the sang x RV cross.

RV is very bad grower like all vulcanicolas and their hybrids. It was summer in France, to hot. France is not very hot in summer....

Every time I talk about this brugs I am hoping that nobody will ask me why I keep this brugs..........I dont know.

No Kell, mine was very dark red. Didn't I send you seeds?

Liz after looking at this RV, what do you think Bert's was? The seedlings, like the 1g I dropped off, was it crossed with your RV or fuzzy sang? My tag is gone.... BTW how is yours? Mine are all different, but growing well.

Bert's looked almost exactly like this - maybe a bit more red, less green. You'll see Bert's in June. Fuzzy sang x RV.

I can't wait to meet Bert. Maybe the correct person is reading this?..... Bert and his garden friends have been trying for years to propagate his red vulc with no success. He has even tried burying a branch for a season with no roots. When Liz and I visit in the summer I'd like to get cuttings, and ideas how to root this?

Wow, secrets...lol,I like it.

Liz, what happened to your Roter Vulcan?

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Shrivelled and died not long after it bloomed. No great loss, I got the pollen.

Just got mine this fall from a nice trader. Have not seen it bloom, but it is growing very well for me, sure hope it
likes it here.

For a cultivar, those two RV photos make each plant seem distinct.
