Kokopelli Introduction

Montezuma, NM(Zone 5b)

I've been around for about a month or so now. I really like it here. Some of you have asked about kokopelli and what kokopelli means. I thought since I just wrote a bit about me on my personal page, I'd share that with you. I'm adding to the end, my favorite rendering of kokopelli and a brief description of who kokopelli is. It definately suits me.

Greetings!

Hi, I'm Cathy. I've loved plants and wildlife all my life! In 2001 I bought my first home: 17 acres of hillside and forest, arroyos, and terraced landscape. Growing zone is 6a but I have a unique microclimate that allows more tender plants to grow. A beautiful Mimosa tree is an example. The previous owner wanted DH and I to have the place (over others) for two reasons. He has been their "babies" veterinerian for over 10 years, and the wife knew a garden lover when she met me.

The place needs lots of TLC. I've done a lot already. But a place with 50 years of history will probably keep me busy for another 50 years. Most important to me was to get the fruit trees in as good a shape as they can be, to get my 6ft stock tank and the koi that live in it in the ground and landscaped, and to bring whatever perenials and other mature landscape possible into shape.

The previous owners were no longer able to keep up with this Eden in the lower Rocky Mountains. Thank goodness for well water.

Aside from gardening I also coach. That's life coach. I work with kids and adults with ADHD, brilliant underachievers, authors, musicians and small business owners. I love my work because I know I make a huge difference in people's lives. I also love that it's fun and always exciting. And, I have time to work in my garden, play with my dogs, spend time with DH and basically enjoy my life.

I look forward to getting to know more of you. I'm really enjoying those I've met so far. This is a great find.

Happy Gardening,
Cathy

Great image of Kokopelli -- a very important figure around these parts! I agree, Kokopelli is a perfect namesake, entirely befitting what you do and what you love.

You are so blessed. Thank you for sharing yourself with us. One of the many gifts of this site is meeting people like yourself who have a 'mission' that is realized in making other people happy and more capable of enjoying the gift of life. I look forward to meeting you among the forums. You will find me lurking among the brugmansia bushes and seed swaps :-)

Hi Cathy a big welcome from Ky. I think we meet in chat the other night so looks like you are finding your way around. By the way I think your name fits too.

LOL, mosh pit about describes it! It's difficult with the fonts and colors all the same. Nice to chat with you a bit last night, too. :)

Montezuma, NM(Zone 5b)

What a great idea GW! How do we go about getting our own color and font?????
Wouldn't that be cool?

Miggy, If you're talking about my coaching, I do most of it by phone. I have an author I work with who lives in Tel Aviv. The only challenge in geography is time zone. If you really are interested e-mail me. I do the first consult for FREE!

Welcome Kokopelli! Make yourself at home. Your garden will be overflowing in no time!! Glad to see you live your life to the fullest. God bless!

You snuck in on me alyssum. Maybe you won't be looking back at this since it's been a month already. But, I wanted to say thanks for your welcome. And Padre, thank you too. Your thoughts are very sweet.

I came back here to see what connections I could make from one interaction to the next. You know, like, neumonics, or other ways of remembering. Usernames and no visuals, or sound makes it tough. I'm sure it's not just me.

As I look back at this page I am making some more connections between those of you who have welcomed me and where I've found you on this site. That's nice. I look forward to being able to make more connections from thread to thread, trades and chat. I know you all joke about this site being addictive. But, honestly, I wouldn't call it addictive. I'd call it a desire. I'm not compelled, I just want to be here!
Warm regards to you all!

Don't know if your watching this anymore but glad to get to know you a little better. Anyone that can help people understand ADD better and how to cope with it deserves medals. Speaking as a person with an ADD son, it's difficult at times. Have enjoyed reading some of your other web postings and wether it be addiction or desire I've been bit by the bug too. Tracy

Hi there, Hillbilliebo
Thanks so much for your kind words. It's nice to meet you too. I do have a method to my madness of helping people understand ADD better. If more people can understand and appreciate the gifts inherent in people diagnosedd ADD or ADHD, well then it will make my life easier, as one who's lived it all her life! hehe.

Probably what I do more than anything is draw out the creative side of people, which in ADDers tends to get squashed early on in the school system. Having been in Social Work for 15+ years, I truly enjoy using the skills and talents I have or have developed to draw out the brilliance in people instead of identifying people as broken in need of fixing.
It's great!

Thanks again!

I like that, it sounds great, the school system doesn't seem to know what to do with these kids other than medicate them. It's really very sad. Tracy Good bugs? bite your tongue! (hehehe)

Cath, my DH is Turkish, I was born and raised there (american parents) DH has been out of a job here for over a year and a half, he decided to go back to turkey and open a pharmacy. So we are packing up and moving back....
But, I will still be online, so some aspects of my life will remain the same. My family here at Dave's has been so helpful and supportive, I feel lucky that I will still have this connection from across the world.
that's it in a nut shell...

When's moving day? or is it moving week when you go that far? Tracy

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

lol - it is confusing...I hope to ship my stuff in a week or so, but the actual move date for us will be after the first of july. In the meantime, I have to get rid of everything in the house and clean it, and basically leave with 2 suitcases each.
Luckily I sold the houe to a neighbour, and she said I could leave stuff - like food in the pantry, garbage cans, etc.,

Brazil, IN(Zone 5a)

LOL - sounds like you're going to be very busy! check in when u can and keep us up to date. Tracy Hope all goes well.
