Will it work for Brugs as well?

Burlington, ON(Zone 6a)

I know that it helps to strengthen the cell structure on Tomato seedlings if you have a fan on them or run your hand across the leaves a couple of times a day. [ I also know that there is a name to the chemical this stimulates within the plant but I can't remember it just now. :( ]
Since Brugs are in the same family as the Tomato, will you get a similar beneficial result from doing this to your Brug seedlings?

Mine get enough stimulation when they get outside for the summer..the wind blows ALL the time in Iowa!!LOL

Mine do then too but right now I am looking at 90 more days before I can get mine out. :(
They are nice and full but I wondered if doing this would strengthen the stems in preparation for the outdoor breezes.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

When the sun starts warming up my GH I run my fan but not directly on the plants. I circulate the air this way and I do think the indirect breeze that they get does help to make then stronger.

Hi RA49, That's a good point! Air circulation is beneficial to alot of plants and it's bound to strengthen Brug cell structure too!

Another thing which will strengthen a plant is plenty of direct sunshine to ripen the wood! I noticed that x Flava etc. when grow in partial shade as suggested, tend to become leggy with weeping lax branches needing support, but if the same plants are grown in a situation that recieves direct sunlight, their growth ripens quicker and is able to support it's own weight and therefore the plants grow more upright with no need for support!
