Hi everyone!

Lake Elsinore, CA(Zone 9a)

Hi,

I found daves garden about a week and half ago. I am enjoying it here emensly. I can say that this place is addicting. It makes it hard to go downstairs and work!! I live in Southern Cal, inland, on a hill overlooking a silly lake (yes it really is silly but beautiful) with views of all the SNOW on our local mountains. We have gotten lots of snow that we so want around here. The summers here are blazing and the winters nice and cool. It is so different from living on the coast, especially since it is so close (about 25 miles over Cleveland National Forest). The growing conditions are incredibly different. It has been a shock! I have been here 2 years and I am amazed at what really can grow with a little forethought. With the help of all the kind people here on Dave's site, I have already learned much more than expected. You are all so generous with your knowledge. Thanks!

Welcome Jul!

We've already 'met' over in the tomato forum, but wanted to make it official.

Waving from KY,where we are currently getting snow and freezing rain.....Usually,I'm contemplating mowing the lawn by now....this winter seems like it will never end,but I know that there are folks who are getting some much needed moisture,so that makes it bearable.

Welcome Jul !

Hi Jul and welcome to DG.

I live right over that mountain you are talking about in Huntington Beach. We used to go camping at the Lake Elsinore camp grounds in the late 60's-early 70's. Last time I went out there, the camp grounds was not the same at all and the lake has receeded quite a bit.

If you ever get over the mountain to my area, let me know and we can get together.

Thanks for such a nice welcome..... Everyone is so kind!!! Hello to all!

So Cal,

I just moved from Capistrano Beach to Lake Elsinore. The lake is full due to all of the rain in this area. I was just over your way checking out the Hawaiian Market on Harbor Blvd. (My husband is from Molokai) His sister lives in HB. I am in Orange County about once a week for supplies etc. I would love to get together.

Kokopelli,

Love New Mexico !!!! So beautiful. The lake closed access to lots of boating last year due to the lack of depth (about 8' with sinkholes) We lost a couple of people in the lake, which was really sad. This year I can see the lake is full (looking out my window) I live on the Ortega Hwy side of the mountain. I can see all the snow on the mountains from LA to Idlywild. Not today however. I have not been to New Mexico for a few years. My sister and I went to Taos and Santa Fe and stayed in Angel Fire. It was Late October, got to tell you, it was sooooo beautiful.

Thanks for all, I will come chat when I can.
Take Care all, Jul

Jul,

My gosh, I can't believe you come to HB so often. Yes, yes, let me know when you have time on your visits to this area. You can come by my house or we could meet and have coffee or lunch. Email me through here when you can make it.

I just met Arlene-TwinLakesChef, last month while she was out here visiting from Iowa. We had a lovely visit and will do so again when she returns to visit her daughters.

So Cal. give me a day or so, I will email. Thanks for the invite.
