Howdy Folks. I rec'd an email from a friend in the upper part of Viginia:
"Hey Shoe, I think we have a mountain lion in our backyard! I found huge cat tracks in the snow. Paw prints were 4 to 5 inches across and pushed deep in the snow with claw marks on the top of each toe that you could fit the end of a toothbrush in. Two huge toes on the sides, two huge toes up top. Distance between the two front paw prints was 15 inches. Distance between the front and back legs on the same side was 32 inches. Distance between the
front and back legs on opposite sides was 4 feet on level ground and 5 feet moving downhill. All neighbors confirm there are plenty of Bobcats around. Can a Bobcat be that big? If so that was one big Bobcat. I like to think cougars are still amoung us." (end of email)
I know a lot of ya'll have predators on your farms, but that sure sounds huge for a bobcat, don't ya think? Also, one of my tracking books says bobcats tracks don't show their claw marks.
Any ideas or info on this? Thanks.
