Pruning Baby Brugs?

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

I've several baby brugs that seem to be thriving. They have large leaves although they are still quite short from the original cuttings.

Should I trim back the pairs of leaves to encourage more growth from the base? Or, perhaps to encourage upwards growth rather than side ways growth?

Here's another two that reside in the same pot right now.

I was going to ask the same question. My cuttings are starting to get big...what is the next step?

Let them grow. They need every leafe as a powerstation.

Outside in summer you can cutt back if you want but you will wait for flowers a long time.

Thanks, Ludger! I'm going to have to separate and repot the doubles I planted just two months ago. I was thinking about putting pebbles around just the anchor cutting since some of the baby brugs seem VERY sensitive to moisture against their skin. Do you think that would be "brug friendly"?

If you wait with repotting the doubles short before you can put them outside, would be better. I already have lost young rooted cuttings because I have repoted to early in spring. The plants are not strong enough to rebuild the roots.

Hope I understood it right: I would not use pebbles like an anchor, stones above the soil can become very hot in sun and cold at nights, not very good for the young steem. A wooden stick is better.

You are right: Rooted cuttings are very sensitive with to much water in soil. Watering less than much will always be good and will push the plant to grow more roots.

I always use very small pots for cuttings. No danger to overwater them.

Please ask, if I should missunderstood anything

Thanks Ludger for all your information. I won't do anything to them yet.

Ludger,

Sie sind sehr informativ! I cannot translate to Danish. Is German close to the Danish language and is that your first language? Ihr Englisch ist ehrfürchtig!!! Danke soviel für Ihre Hilfe >:=) Mein opa kam aus Süddänemark und ich möchte Dänische eines Tages sprechen.

For now, I use the translator and speak/write a very weak French.

Danke soviel!
