Hi Bonnieallmine!! Great to have another new brug lover at Daves. Hope to see you here soon.
Welcome - have you had a chance yet to go back and look at the old threads? They are full of terrific pictures and info.
Welcome to DG make yourself at home we all do
Welcome Bonnieallmine!
Welcome Bonnie, this is a great place to be.
Ha! I dont have any! But I know what they are, and I have one down the street from me every year. I have often been tempted to try them, but they do get large. I am fascinated by the varieties I have seen on your site. They do well here in zone 10a, and I do see them in yards occasionally.
Maybe I will try one in a pot next year....any recommendations for a beginner? I have plumeria, in pots, a wisteria, two lilacs, two nectarine trees, two very old large avocado trees, a loquat tree, a lemon tree (dwarf), and miniature roses, some large roses, etc. But no brugmansia! Obviously I need to remedy that.
Kell, what zone are you? Looking at the images you posted, I would assume a warm climate. You are really into poinsettas?
What does everyone think I should chose as my first Brug? I want lots of fragrance. Any place in particular to buy one?
Dr. Suess has a great fragrance. Since they only smell good in the evening through the night, get one that you will remember during the day. Once you smell one of them, you will have to get more.
Brugie has suggested Dr. Seuss. Does any one have a suggestion as to where to get it?
Many of us will have cuttings later on when the weather is warmer. For us in the colder climates our Brugs are still dormant.
Welcome to Dave's Bonnie.
Larry
thanks for the idea about waiting for cuttings, etc. Now, please educate an ignorant non brugmansia person, what is the difference between a brugmandia and a datura?
