Iowa Winds...

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

This was during one of our wind storms late last summer. My cassia was nearly blown out of the pot it was in and B. Ollie is laying on the ground. Right now I'd love to see the summer back again. I could deal with the wind easier than this cold weather.

I agree. We sw PA are weary of winter.
Snow here has been something like 48 out of 55 days.
Snow again all this week. Very cold temps since early November, too )o:
Enough!

Hey,I'll trade with you!

The word's "lake effect" make me throw things at the TV

Saturday and Sunday we got tons of rain,on top of all that snow......then the temperature dropped.........and we got 4 inches of snow

My garage flooded,OK,we dug trenches, squeeged out the water.....

Today my Chicken barn flooded...and froze it's 4 inches deep, not froze solid so its more like ice and slush, birds are soaked, some dead,I have all the birds that I could catch in upper pens now,and 19 wet birds in my woodstove room trying to dry them....they'll probably be sick.....

There is a river going thru my yard..........and its 12 degrees out.......

Winter sucks

CC,
I am very sorry to hear this. I do know such things...´remember my peacock´s death.

Shirley, great picture. Also I am waiting for summer winds. It always is better like this bad winter weather. I caught a cold, too...am pretty silent because of.

Ellabell, GA(Zone 8a)

CC I'm so sorry to hear about your chickens. I hope they dry and stay healty. Also that your yard dries up.

I was on the side of the road outside the port today, protesting low rates, high fuel prices and backups in the lines.
I was out in a t-shirt all day, and now have the worst sunburn on half of my face. I look like half a lobster, and it hurts. I didn't realize how strong the sun is already.
I hope spring catches up with all you northerners soon.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Oh my CC! So sorry you lost some of your chickens. Hope the rest will be OK. They are warning on the news tonight up here that when it turns warm to be prepared for lots of flooding from the ice jams in the rivers. Don't have to worry about that yet though. It's supposed to go back down to -25 tomorrow night.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Sorry bout your birds CC,hope the rest of them will be alright, stay warm up there, spring is coming, slow, but coming.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Karyn, sounds like your problems are much bigger than mine just complaining about the cold. Hope everything will be okay. I know that some day you will get rid of the snow and ice and it will warm up. Just hope your chickens will pull through this.

Ludger, take care of yourself. Winter colds can be really tough to deal with.

Terry......STAY WARM!!

PL....be careful with those sunburns. I've had some and now I'm paying for it. The doctors really do wish we would use lots of sunscreen.

Alice, I'm with you. ENOUGH ALREADY!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh poor CC.....that is so sad. I hope they recover. What a terrible winter you all are having!

And Brugie......... just this morning you tell me you would hate to live here because of the wind storms we had this winter...........and then you show us your wind storm? I am going to email this thread to Liz!! LOL

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Oh CC I am so sorry.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Kell, you just seemed to have horrible storms and frequently last year. More than we did. Remember when you had those 60-70 MPH winds for days and you were so worried about the hoop house? Well, our winds last for a few hours and then the storm passes. They still do damage, but I can deal with it.
