Yep - made the mix today for the first time - and my blender will forgive me......what fun it was to use pastry brush to "paint" the rocks and anchor and chain .... all around the "new pond" just created last year. It is in the shade for much of the day, and I am hopeful this will be a good jump start to getting that aged look to the water feature.
Have any others in this forum painted a region in order to get the moss going sooner? If so, I would appreciate your sharing your experiences..

Moss and Buttermilk - ala Huck Finn
After you "paint" the rocks with the mixture, how do you keep it moist for the moss to grow without washing it off?
In the learning curve, I shall have to reapply this - as right after I did it the first time, we had sunny freezing weather - so now to redo it during wet times - and misting is recommended. I cannot speak from any success perspective at this point - but if/when it "takes", I shall shout it from the rock pile!
Sorry to hear about the freezing. I have the thread markerd to watch your progress though and will look forward to reading about your success.
