Carnations, that's what I need! LOL

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Hi All,
I have a list of things I am thinking about ordering and will post it later to see if anyone has any of the seeds. But the carnations keep popping into my mind as the thing I need most right now. LOL I have half a pack of cobea or half a pack of apricot foxglove (newly purchased and started some) to trade or you can check my lists.

Okay, scratch these off my wish list. I just bought two different kinds. :)

now that you have carnations, would you like some old fashioned pinks??

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL Hi Kathleen. I figured I would come home from the store having spent $3 only to find someone posted. :) Do you mean like cheddar pinks/Dianthus?

I have some dianthus - zing variety if you want some Badseed. They will probably bloom first year too. They are dark pink. I grew carnations last year but didn't save seed. They grew ok and were very fragrant but they wouldn't stand up. They spent the summer on the ground. There is nothing to stake like if it were a dahlia or something. It's just one single stem with the bloom and they wouldn't stand up so I decided not to grow them this year. I'm sure I was doing something wrong but I didn't consider myself a success with them.

I have 2 different carnations Grenadin Mix and Dwarf vienna mix. Did you buy these ones.

Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

I think I have a couple different kinds. Let me chase them down. Deptford pinks for sure and maybe Bath's and dianthus deltoids. the Deptford are a biennial with tall flower stalks and pretty little bright dark pink (if you can imagine) flowers. The Bath's are pink perennials with lots of lovely grey-green foliage all year. I also have Sweet Williams.

Well so long as you are doing that digging, do me a favor and think of what I can send you in return. :)

Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

I have all of the above. and there isn't a thing in the world that I really need now. I'll send you a nice selection.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

You know Kathleen, I knew there was a reason I love you so much. :)

Well shoot!!!! I was at Wal-Mart yesterday and they had their seeds marked down to 10cents...and I found some Carnation seeds (Chaubaud Mix) and I remembered that you were wanting some, So I bought you a couple of packs! Now I see that you already have some! Day late and a dollar short...that's me!!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL If you still want to trade that would be great. The ones I bought were Ferry-Morse from Lowe's. One pack had the right seeds in it plus another kind so I called them to complain. While I was on the phone, I opened the other pack. It had as much chafe as seeds. I told her it was ridiculous. She told me to mail them in and they would replace them. I told her that would set me back, but I would do it. She told me to just think of the 'FREE' seeds I would be getting. I said "Free? I don't know how you figure that. I paid $3.00 for them, now have to pay to mail them to you.' Her answer..."Well, I just meant....". LOL So, for the moment, I do not have any. Egads! You know I might expect this with home grown/saved seeds but not when I am paying for them by weight and I told her so.

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

WOW! I too wouldn't expect to get such as that in store bought seeds. It had me thinking I had better open the ones I bought just to see what they looked like..and they look fine. Just black seeds and no chafe that I can see. So if you still wont these, you are more than welcome to them. Just e/mail me your address and they are your's!
These are "American Seed" brand.
Let me know soon, and I will try and get these out to you tomorrow K?

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)
