Hi everyone. I'm new at this, so bear with me. I'm not used to forums, journals, seed trading...or all the recent snow we've just had. But I know that under all that white stuff waits my dream border! The snow shovel will eventually get put away and I'll get out the dirt diggin' shovel. I sure hope to learn about gardening from some of you. I'm pretty good at transplanting trees, but terrible at starting seeds. As I shovel (perhaps go boating this weekend now that the rains have started) I dream of a blue border along my picket fence, maybe a hint of yellow, or a splash of pinks...
Hello from snowy "Ahia"
Welcome to DG, Darleen! You will love it here!
Thanks whiterose and Rudbeckia. Ooooh, you guys are really fond of your plants, I see, by taking their names. I'm baffled by names and quite unoriginal. However, I do think I am going to love it here. Been working on my Journal. Not yet sure I'm getting the hang of it with cultivar and species and genus and such, but I've found out I can fix any errors I write. Thank goodness! ;-) I've been looking through some of the forums (lurking?) and I'm exploring leads given by older members to others as I search the web sites and other members these folks have recommended to others. Wonderful resource people!!! I will try to check out Gardenwife and Lotusblossom to see what other Ahian's are up to here at DG. Thanks.
Hey Darleen! Check out the PDB...the first time I did, I spent almost 2 hours scrolling through. You will love it here b/c everyone is very kind and supportive. This brown-eyed Susan likes your name!
Susan :)
Hey, Darleen - welcome to DG! Athens is a pretty area down there in the hills. How did you hear about DG, searching for plants? I think you'll find this one of the friendliest sites anywhere. I know people say it, but here it really stands true: there are no dumb questions. :)
Welcome :D
When I was in Athens it was very hot there, and not very clean.. But Akropolis looked great. Hahaha
Welcome! The good folks here will have that seed problem remedied in no time. Meanwhile, shovel away and keep on dreaming of all those beautiful flowers.
Hey Darleen, I'm new too. I also use my real name, I love all the different names people use though . very cool. well have fun.
Hi Darleen! Welcome from another Ohioan. If you run into plant or name problems, I would be happy to help, as would many others.
Michele
Welcome from Alaska, Darleen! You'll get lots of good ideas for your borders here on Dave's. Just post a thread about it and you'll get suggestions and photos, as well!
Hi Darleen. Welcome from New York City (Bronx). Used to live in Cleveland Heights and travel all over Ohio. I make a regular visit to the Amish in Charm. Love the state and the people AND the roller coasters at Cedar Point! Wow, what a ride. They prepared me for driving in NYC :-) Welcome.
Oh, thanks everyone. Your very kind to respond. You make me feel right welcome! I cannot begin to tell you how many hours I may spend looking through the PDB (Plant Data Base, right?) I believe that's how I discovered DG. I was walkin' through cyberspace trying to find info on some plant and up popped the PDB like steppin on the fork of a rake with your toe and lo, a link back to DG. Well, that's all she wrote!! Evert, you're a card! But I think the founding fathers did name the place after the "Big" city over there. I live near Carthage Twp. There's also a Rome Twp. here, too. The college stadium is the only place sorta resembling "the old country" Lucky for us all, Padre, there haven't been any Lions here since the circus went through a couple years back! ha ha. Sorry about the joke. Couldn't help myself. Thanks, Badseed, for the offer of help with the seed sewing. I have no greenhouse, no really great place to sprout them. Where do I go to post my question...to one of the other forums? Do tell. I will.
Welcome to the finest garden site on the web, Darleen. Lot's of great folks in your state. You should endeavor to meet as many of them as you can.....I hope to meet you in "chat" very soon...like Tuesday night. Jo
Hi Darleen a big welcome from Ky we are almost neighbors. lol You can post your question in the garden talk forum that would be a good place to start. Hope you brought along a nice comfy chair this place is addictive you won't want to leave.
