Cootamundra Wattle tree in flower in my garden.
kennedyth, If this tree makes seed I would like to trade for some.
busybee, I would be happy to send you some seed, but you are too late for this year. Seed was shed about 2 months back. I will try and remember to collect some, late this year, (around November) if the Gang-gang cockatoos don't eat it all.
Thank you very much. I will make myself a note to remind you in November. I appreciate your generosity.
I would also like to have some seed. I have about 4 acres and the back part of my pasture it would be great. How long does it take to grow
It is quite a fast growing shrub. Mine is now some 5 metres tall and has been in position about 12 years. It has just about completed its flowering (it has been magnificent this winter), but seed will still be a few months away. If the Ganggang Cockatoos don't eat all the seed, I will be happy to save some for you.
I received my ordered seeds, from www.seedsandmore.net about 10 days ago. I live in the Dominican Republic. I was scared to pour boiling water over them but actually did it twice. (my first lesson in scarifying). Then I put about 20 of them in a pot which I stood in water to keep the seeds wet. Then I planted them. A month later I couldnt find them among the compost.
I nip off the end, soak in water at 28c, the next day I split the seed casing and remove the seed from inside. This I put onto wet sand, again everything water and sand at 28c and they root within 24 hours.
