Three plants that I'm growing from Gloria's versi peach hybrids (unknown pollen donar) have the most incredible foliage. The leaves are extremely velvety and covered in very prominent hairs. The contrast between the pale green veins and dark emerald green is breath taking. The leaves closely resemble gloxinas in color and texture. Regardless of what the flower color turns out to be I'm going to keep these plants just for the foliage.
I'll keep you updated along the way Gloria with pictures. Have to reload my software to take pictures.
Stunning Emerald green foliage
Joydie,
Please do take pictures. Thanks of the update.
Speaking of seedlings....the Butteryfly X Isabella I grew from Arlene's seeds is getting tall and has Y'd but still no flower....keeping my fingers crossed.
Where is Arlene these days? Did she change her nic? I miss her postings, or have I not read enough of the messages.
Gloria, I'm hoping you get flower buds soon. I know you are excited. I've learned a lot about brugs just from growing them from seeds, so many different leaf shape variations that give one an indication as to some of the genetic background to plants. Its been a real learning experience for me. Still lots to learn yet, but I'm really enjoying it immensely.
I have flower buds now on some of Larry's seedlings. Most of them Y'd very early, about 3 feet tall and never even went through a dormant period indoors. They must be from his Nina Lane seeds (Betty Marshall F1 generation) On the otherhand, all my other plants are just now coming out of dormancy and starting to leaf out again.
Its battle of the bugs time as I forgot to spray them good for bugs when I brought them indoors in the fall. Somehow I'm going to have to hang tags on them that say "SPRAY ME BEFORE I'M A WINTER GUEST IN YOUR HOUSE." It would also have been wise to repot them in fresh potting soil and then sterilize the old soil for potting up other seeds or cuttings...things I might do this year in spring.
