Should I bring my plants out of the cellar now, pot up, and put them in a room with a bit more light?

Or am I waaaaaay tooooo early?

I was locked in the cellar watching them dry-out.

Well it's a just wee bit less exciting than watching paint dry ;-)

Wintermoor, it is too early. When is the last frost expected in Hamburg? I know, that its earlier as at my place.

Here, at nights it goes down to -17°C, during day -4°C.
We have about 47cm of snow.

We'll still get frost Monika, but I read that I could bring them out of the cellar, and keep them INSIDE in a better lit room, which is 22°C.

Should I still leave them in the dark?

Leave them in the dark until Mid March. If you start too early, the growth will be weak and you have to remove it again. We dont have enough daylight, the 21. March equals 21 Sept. 12 hrs day and 12 hrs night. It needs another four weeks to have them come into good growth. In Mid March, you can remove dead roots, replace the old soil and the warmer room with more light starts the root growth at first and the sprouts later, right in time to bring them outside after the 'Eisheiligen'.
