what do you use to keep it from freezing over?

I have one of those "horribly expensive to run" heaters in it. Thankfully we put a timer on it so it only runs an hour during the night and day. Just enough to keep a hole in the bitter cold weather. I also kept the one pump running which kept the water "moving". Last time I could get to it the fish seemed just fine including the babies.
Good luck. Thank god we don't have that problem here. It may ice over about 1 inch or so thick, but thaws out really quickly.
