Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Good morning farmers and friends. Yesterday when I went riding I saw some elk before they saw me and was able to get some pictures from about a quarter of a mile away. I will post 2 of them. In the first picture you see a large area with 2 tan spots in the middle. The second shows a zoom in after I was able to ride a little closer. They were leaving so I didn't get closer. They are very large animals, about the size of a horse, so you can see I wasn't very close. They are only the 3rd elk I have seen out there in 10 years of riding in the area.
This morning I have things to do in town, including recycling a lot of things. This afternoon I hope to get out there for another ride, with my camera of course. Yesterday I got snowed on a few times as showers passed but overall it was sunny for a nice long ride. I'm trying to get through a series of fences to ride on some hills where I used to be able to go before somebody put a lock on a gate. Sooner or later I will find a way, there is just a lot of ground to cover out there.
Kathy Jo, I am thinking about sending your Iris, would this be a good time for you? They will wake up soon here.
Have a good day everyone. Count your blessings.
