It's a grey day here ~

Hi Liz,
Be glad it is only grey. It was a beautiful sunny day here and if you like -36 (that was the high) then it was a great day. We have been in a deep freeze for 6 weeks now and I am surely tired of it.

You must be used to it though, aren't you? I know that people who move here from the prairies find that it feels colder here because of the damp. They do seem to adjust pretty quickly though.

I don't think you ever get used to it being that cold. I wish I lived somewhere where it wasn't winter for 6 months of the year. It makes for an awful short growing season and I truely love to grow things.

The trick to getting through the winters here in the east is to concentrate on indoor plants at this time of the year.
Here are mine today.

Beautiful colours - I'll have to look for that one.
So did you get a bunch of snow?

Burlington, ON(Zone 6a)

No Liz, only about 5 inches and the temps have warmed up, it's -8C and I just had to lower the heaters in the GH, it was 20C in there!

Liz, 'Blossom Peacock' came from Veseys fall flyer and even has a slight fragrance.

You guys have some beautiful flowers. Are they in bloom right now? Love that orange hibiscus. Wish I could grow violets. Aphids took care of the last one I had.

Here is a bit of colour for you. I planted some flower seeds in my vegetable garden..four o'clocks, cosmos, lavetera, zinnias, and a packet of wildflower seed.
Enjoy..
