Snow Storm

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

Hi to All,

in german news I have heard that a very strong snowstorm is in some parts from USA.Even Mr President had to use a car and not the helicopter from Camp David to DC.

I very hope all of you are fine. My thoughts and prayers will be with you this night.

It is very cold in Germany but we dont have storm or much snow like you.

Please hold on,

Ludger

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

We are trying, has been very windy, from the north(cold), 2" of snow, supposed to have 4" or more, still snowing!
Auuggghhhhhhh...won't spring come? SOON!

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Thanks Ludger! We are at 12 inches of snow right now. Suppose to have another 13 inches before it's all over.
I hurt my back something terrible today. If it doens't let up, I'm off in the snow to the emergency room (hopefully our road is plowed). Right now I'm sitting on a VERY STRAIGHT back chair. The only relief I have. I've NEVER had pain like this it's horrible. *sigh*

Kristi . . I hope you didn't hurt your back to seriously. Hope it is better soon. The snow stayed south of us. Sorry your all getting dumped on again. Did have the wind and just a couple inches of snow. It was like a little mini blizzard. You all take care and stay warm.

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Hi Ludger,
We are about 15" right now Sunday eve.. Still snowing.
Supposed to snow all through tomorrow, too. LOL

Milo, IA(Zone 5a)

We ended up with 13 inches. I can't imagine all what your getting Abutilon. Stay warm and pray for spring.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Ice, ice and ice here since 6am yesterday. Now the snow is coming down like mad. Geeze, what a weekend! Hope you are okay Kristi. Work was called off tonight and that is a blessing. I am thrilled I don't have to go back in until Tuesday night.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Kristi,
Gosh, you are really getting hammered. First the snow and now the back. Hope everything is okay. Going to the ER during a storm can't be a fun thing either, so I hope your back will be better with some time. Take care of yourself. The snow will soon melt away, we hope.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Kristi:

Sure hope you don't have to go to emergency. Holiday tomorrow, probably all the good Drs. will be off. Take care, now, hope it gets better real fast!

"down the Shore", NJ(Zone 7a)

Hi Ludger, wow, we made the news in Germany? This is the worst blizzard in 20 years, over a foot of snow already, will be two feet or more before it is over. Very unusual for New Jersey, especially at the Shore. John

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

John, you made the news here in Canada too - and gosh knows, Canada knows snow. LOL

"down the Shore", NJ(Zone 7a)

Hi Liz, wow! Snow here worthy of mention in Canada? Everything stops here, nothing open but key personnel at hospitals, no driving or parking on the streets allowed, state of emergency declared.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

be careful you guys! I hope you all are warm and have plenty of supplies.

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Kristi, please take care of yourself! I know 1st hand what it means to have a "bad back"! I can certainly relate 1st hand to what you are going through!! I pray that you have not dislocated or ruptured a disc in your back, because of shoveling snow. Please let us know how you are doing, when you are able to. My thoughts & best wishes are with you.

WOW! Impressive that we made the news both in Europe & Canada!! Well, I'm in Maryland and we are in the direct path of BOTH storms!! The first one began late Friday night and ended yesterday;it deposited about 7 inches on top of the snow that was remaining from a previous snow event.

This morning about 4:00a.m., the second snow storm hit us with a "1-2 PUNCH"! We are getting "dumped on' BIG TIME~~!!! Everytime I listen to the weather forecast, the total amounts keep climbing higher. We have close to 2 feet on the ground now! It is suppose to snow the majority of tomorrow, which may deposit another foot of snow.

On Tuesday, the newscasters are taking about a "backlash" effect once the storm gets closer to the Atlantic Ocean, which will add several more inches to the grand total.

At the moment, I can hear sleet hitting the window, as it adds the "icing" to the frozen "cake". I'll take pictures and post them on the Photos Forum.

Stay warm everybody and PLEASE TAKE CARE WHEN SHOVELING SNOW!!!!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

gee I talked to my Mom today and she said nothing............ she is right on the Jersey shore!

Kristi I feel for you......from one back sufferer to another. Try taking aspirin, it is an anti-inflammatory. I take 2 every 2 hours for too long. LOL. I wonder if you got into bed with your knees up and push your low back into the bed. When I am really bad my DH piles pillows up under my knees and I push my low back down between tears. I sure hope you recover fast! Just know you will get better........

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

I too, know about bad back, took aspirin. Tyleneol/Codeine did absolutely NOTHING!

Pray it is all better in the morning! We'll get through this just a couple more weeks. I Hope!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Hi Gloria....I didn't know you had back problems. Isn't it the truth..........pain med does not seem to work! Time is the only cure I have found. Oh and I put on a back support immediately. Like today, my sciatica started and I put on my back support immediately and I got to go out and do yard work.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

We have a medication, its a lotion with capsicin (out of hot peppers) which you apply around the place, that hurts. The blood starts to circulate and warms your back up and the cramp in the muscles will go so you can move araound again.

Typical Ludger, no snow in the lower parts of Germany, so he doesnt have any while we stuck in it LOL!

That lotion (Capsicin) is great, it really works, but you don't dare touch your eyes/mouth/nose, etc. with the same fingers that you rubbed it on your back with, even after washing good, as it will burn eyes, etc.

Livermore, CA(Zone 9a)

Kristi, I hope you getting to feeling better soon. There isn't much worse than a back injury.

DOn't know if I have ever seen snow like this! Woke up to over two feet, and it will continue all day. Cars are buried, doesn't look like I will be going anywhere anytinme soon. Hope the provisions hold out! John

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

I use special plastic gloves (for one time use?. It was good that you mentioned the danger, Hibiscus. I forgot all about. When using bare hands, you must wash them very very well. Lotion with bee poison helps too. Here the same caution applies to.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Thinking of all our friends suffering under snow, hang in there, spring is just around the corner. I hope everyone is surviving this freak snow storm. It has been on the news all weekend.

Kristi, use the cream that monika mentioned, have your husband slather it on, then wear an old t-shirt under what you would normally wear and just wait for it to do its magic. And as someone said, make sure he washes his hands well and not to touch anything sensitive on his body, eyes especially....Good luck to you, and speedy recovery

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Well you all have sold me........I am going to go look for this cream! Thanks

Everyone should stay safe inside!

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

I have kept Zostrix on hand for 8 yrs. it is a good one with all the "good" stuff in it, and IT REALLY DOES WORK!
About $12.00 a tube, but worth every penny.
