things i learned today about lilies

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

i was reading an article and i learned a few new things about lilies.
the tiger lily can carry viruses and while these don't seem to bother the Tiger Lily itself, you should take care not to plant them near or with other lilies that could be infected.

when planting lilies in containers you need to fertilize them well, especially if you plan on carrying them over more than 1 year in the container. one english gardener Alan Titchmarsh, uses diluted tomatoe fertilizer weekly.

Alan is the one from Ground Force, an English TV show where they surprise people with make-over gardens. Very interesting show that gives lots of ideas about what you can do. You would have to exchange some plants, since this is done in England.

not anymore Bleek. Alan has quit and the makeover is no longer a surprise as the family help. watch out for his new show 'How to be a gardener'

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Can you see this show in the US? Sounds like fun.

thanks for the lilie advice Debi, I just planted some in 2 huge pots this year.
